RESUMO
A palavra sociedade pode ser entendida como o conjunto de pessoas que têm objetivos, gostos, preocupações e costumes em comum e que se relacionam entre si formando uma comunidade, ou como o coletivo de cidadãos de um país, governados por instituições de nível nacional. Vários pensadores ao longo do tempo elaboraram ideais de sociedade, e neste trabalho é apresentada a sociedade perfeita na concepção política de Thomas More, mostrando um pouco das características econômicas, culturais, sociais e políticas de sua época, o que ajuda a compreender os fundamentos de sua formação intelectual, humana, profissional e religiosa e sua atuação política. Com isso, passa-se ao estudo de sua obra Utopia, cuja concepção política procura-se expressar, pontuando algumas das características de uma sociedade perfeita, o que poderá vir a sustentar futuras pesquisas acerca da contemporaneidade das propostas feitas por Thomas More.

ABSTRACT
Society can be understood as the whole of people which have objectives, tastes, occupations and costumes in common and which have relations among themselves that make them a community, or as the collective of citizens of a country, governed by national institutions. Many thinkers developed ideals of society through the centuries, and in this work is showed the perfect society in the political conception of Thomas More, describing some of the economical, cultural, social and political features of his time, which help to understand the basis of his intellectual, human, professional and religious formation and his political activity. After this, a study of his work Utopia is showed, expressing its political conception and pointing some of the features of a perfect society, and this may be a base to new researches about the contemporariness of the proposals made by Thomas More.
